Distribution:
From India extending to much of Southeast Asia into China and Malaysia.
Diet:
Small cereal seeds and greens. These birds should be offered sprouted seeds as well as insects, especially when breeding.
Sexing:
No reliable visual distinctions.
Compatibility:
Can be kept with related birds of smaller size.
Nest:
Box or hooded bamboo style.
Clutch:
Up to 7 eggs.
Incubation:
About 13 days.
Fledging:
At about 3 weeks old.
